Day 1: Arrival in Uganda

Welcome! You arrive in Uganda at Entebbe International Airport, located on a peninsula that juts out into Lake Victoria, the largest fresh water lake in Africa, where a representative or your driver/guide from Uzuri Uganda Safaris will transfer you to the hotel you have selected (you will see options in the detailed itinerary we will share with you) in Entebbe or Kampala for your overnight stay.

Day 2: Drive to Murchison Falls via Zziwa Rhinos

This morning, after your breakfast, your driver/guide will pick you up from your overnight hotel to commence the drive to Murchison Falls National Park via Zziwa Rhino Sanctuary. The rhino sanctuary is not part of Murchison Falls National Park but can easily be visited on the way to or from Murchison. The Rhino Sanctuary was set up to breed rhinos that were wiped out in the Ugandan wild with the hope that one day they will be re-introduced back in the country’s national game parks. Here, you track Rhinos on foot with guides, which is a most exhilarating experience. The trek is an hour and a half and you come into close proximity with the Rhinos. After your trek, you enjoy lunch and exit the sanctuary to complete your drive to Murchison Falls National Park. On arrival, you will check-in at the lodge you have selected and have the rest of the day to yourselves or head out for an evening game drive. Dinner and overnight at the lodge.

Day 3: Morning Game Drive & Boat Safari to Bottom of Falls

Game in Murchison Falls National Park is among the best in Uganda, garnished with wonderful birdlife that makes the park a wildlife and birders’ paradise. The park is also home to a good number of camouflage leopards as well as a good number of lion prides. The park is also known for the endangered Rothschild’s Giraffe. On the Nile’s banks and in the pools, you find hippos and crocodiles. Today, you are up at 6.00am, have breakfast and head out for a game drive for a chance to view the glorious day-break from across the open savannah, birds and dotted woodland as well as riverine vegetation along the Nile. You explore the area and are in search for game ranging from lion, buffalo, elephant, giraffes, antelope and a lot more. At between 10-11am, you will return to the lodge for relaxation and lunch. After lunch, at 2.00pm, you will head out for the boat launch to the bottom of the powerful Murchison Falls. This three-hour boat cruise climaxes at the edge of the rift valley escarpment at which point you will get off the boat and trek to the top of the falls (wear sports shoes while on the boat for ease of trekking to the top). Having worked up a sweat, once at the top, get bathed in the misty spray that the Nile create as it forces itself into the 7-metre cleft to create the famous Murchison Falls. Your guide will be waiting up top to transfer you back to your the lodge for dinner and overnight stay.

Day 4: Chimpanzee trek & Relax at Lodge

Wake and enjoy your breakfast. After your breakfast, drive to Budongo Forest – part of the Murchison Falls National Park conservation area for your guided chimpanzee tracking experience. Also, look out for other primates like the Black and White Collobus Monkeys, Red-tailed Monkeys, different types of birds etc. Chimp tracking can be experienced daily with two viewing times per day – so you will take the morning slot. The hike takes 2 to 4 hours, depending on the movement of the chimpanzees. Once you find the chimps, you will stay in their presence for one hour as you watch them feed, play and groom one another. Once the hour is up, you will come back to the starting point where your driver/guide will be waiting to take you back to the lodge for a hot lunch. Later in the evening, you can go out for an evening game drive. Given that no game drive is the same, you are sure to see something new. Later, return to the lodge for dinner and overnight stay.
